My life is about art and my art is about life … the good and bad of the physical experience.
It is spiritual in its viewpoints…and can be downright honest in its messages.

Study & Work History
I studied Fine Art in 1978 at East Sydney Tech, Darlinghurst, NSW (now the National Arts School) for five months but am mainly self taught. I was honoured with a Highly Commended Award by the Blue Mountains Art Council in the Open Section of Arts in the Mountains for a painting titled Tribute to Peter – The Art Room an oil 41” x 48”. I love doing large works but unfortunately have little room in which to do so however if you would like a large painting done then please let me know … I can always empty my kitchen for use as a larger studio.
I have also worked in commercial photography (Phillip Baxter Photography) for a few years doing the accounts, client liaison on art layouts for their products, developing film, printing and doing copy photography of old prints and art works for books. One of my major jobs at the photographic studio was the hand toning and colouring, using old Kodak colouring tablets, of sepia prints of Berryman furniture. Another of those type of jobs was a print for Unicef which ended up as a poster promoting the organisation worldwide. It came into the studio as 4”x 6” print that had been folded in four and kept in a wallet for 2 years so I had to recopy it, produce a new 10″×8″print then spot with the toners all the scratches out before rephotographing the spotted print to produce a negative large enough to have it printed up into a large poster. It was of a woman and malnourished child and I cried for the whole of the first day working on it due to the appalling condition of the people particularly the little child. I left that position to live in Hawaii in late 1978 where I lived until 1980.
When I returned from living in Hawaii I worked in the recording industry as the bookings co-ordinator (Traffic Manager) for EMI Studios 301 in Sydney (sister studio to Abbey Road Studios, London, recording studios of the Beatles among other superstars). At the time the largest recording studio in the Southern Hemisphere where I learnt the techniques of recording. I then left that position in 1984 and went to live in UK for 6 months before relocating to the USA. I moved back to London at the beginning of 1985 where I went to The School of Computer Technology (an annex of the University of London) to study computing programming (COBOL) and returned to Sydney in 1987 with Credits from the College. I was to receive Distinctions from the UK Guild had I resat the written theory exam (they wanted my theory re-written less wordy) however I didn’t resit as I returned to Sydney due to my father’s poor health at the time.
I also spent a considerable time working part-time in modelling and performing (commercials, stage & movies – as an extra only in movies) from childhood until retiring from those fields in my 40’s and was a founder of the Met Theatre in Katoomba (1994-1996). Performing, art and writing are a part of my hereditary (ancestors were in the professions too).
Other art work includes: poetry, philosophy, hypotheses and inventions. Some of my poetry has been published in various anthologies in both Australia and USA as well as on CD’s for the hearing impaired through the International Library of Poetry.
Namaste & God Bless …
Christine Joy :)
